The two things you can download

1. The Demo Disc (free). Released February 23, 2026 for Steam Next Fest as its own Steam app, styled as a retro “demo disc” — a curated set of prototype levels rather than a slice of the campaign. Its nine PROTO stages remain playable and even keep their own speedrun.com boards, so demo runs still count competitively. Search Steam for “CICADAMATA Demo Disc” or find it linked from the main store page.

2. The full game ($9.99). Released August 21, 2026, on the main Steam page — Windows PC only, 1 GB install, with a 10% launch-week discount at release. Launch bundles pair it with games by the developer’s friends (“They/Them Ass!!!” with Funi Raccoon Game, “goblinCicada” with goblinAmerica).

Straight answers to common download searches

• “cicadamata free download” — the only free, legal download is the Demo Disc. The full game is a $9.99 one-person indie; unofficial “free” copies are the usual malware lottery and skip the leaderboards anyway, which is half the game.
• “cicadamata download PS5 / console” — there is no console version as of August 2026. PC only, though DualShock and DualSense pads are fully supported.
• “demo disc” vs “demo” — same thing: Demo Disc is the official name of the free demo app.

Will it run on your machine?

Requirements are light — an Intel Core i3 with a GTX 1050 2GB clears minimum spec, with DirectX 12 / Vulkan 1.0 support required. Full table on the system requirements page. An internet connection is recommended for the CCID leaderboard features.
